I was at Costco of all places, and happened upon this book. I've never heard of it, never saw any advertisements that it was going to be released this week. And I usually do see these things because I read a lot of WW II history, especially about D-Day recently. I've only just started this book, but I'm already hooked. This man is a 98 year old veteran and survivor of D-Day. That makes him special, like the other vets who survived D-Day. But he also has a way with words and a good outlook on life. This book is going to be special. Do yourself a favor and read it soon. UPDATE: I just finished this. What a wonderful book. Lambert has the advantage of many many years lived well since D Day and it gives him a unique perspective. He is eloquent and he is introspective. He gives a lot of credit to those who were around him during the war. Well worth the read. I'm honestly surprised to see only a handful of reviews thus far for this book. It's a good one.
